If you’re looking for a free yet capable FTP program, check out this offering from CoffeeCup. We liked the program’s intuitive interface, although you will be forced to endure several advertising banners. It wasn’t immediately clear how to connect to the FTP server, but after a brief trip to the help files, we had success in mere seconds. In our tests, the program did its job just fine, though we did notice a few quirks. For example, the program does not ask whether or not you want to overwrite files and simply does so automatically. In terms of features, CoffeeCup Free FTP supports secure SSH transfers but won’t let you schedule downloads. However, we were glad to note that transferring files didn’t affect our PC’s performance. Although the program doesn’t have some advanced features that seasoned users will desire, most folks won’t go wrong with this free FTP utility.
